Two ways for young musicians to experience the sound, discipline, and community of a traditional British brass band.
The Youth Brass Band is an auditioned ensemble with a longer season. The Youth Academy is a concentrated weekend experience entered through band-director nomination.
For brass and percussion musicians ages 14–20 who want an extended ensemble experience with other talented youth.
For musicians ages 14–20, including French horn players, who want an intensive weekend in the British brass band setting.
Working alongside the musical leadership of the Brass Band of the Treasure Valley, the YBBTV is an auditioned ensemble that aspires to inspire young brass and percussion musicians in our community, offering them a unique opportunity to grow and flourish in the traditional British Brass Band setting under the direction of Brittany Brings and Jeff Paradis.
This opportunity is open to musicians who are 14–20 years old.
2025–26 program information
Auditions are required to participate in the ensemble. Interested students should fill out both the interest form and register for an audition date.
If accepted
Applied to tuition or refunded if a seat is not offered. The deposit is forfeited if an offered seat is declined.
Payment is accepted by check, cash, or Venmo.
The ensemble will perform a February concert alongside the Brass Band of the Treasure Valley and during Youth Academy week on May 9, 2026.
The YBBTV Academy is a weekend experience targeted toward young musicians and offers them a chance to experience the traditional British Brass Band setting.
This opportunity is open to musicians who are 14–20 years old, and French horn players are welcome, too!
Participation requires band director nomination. Videos may be requested for chair placement.
